The Geissan Emergency Room said Sunday that a new wave of displacement was underway in the City 12 area of Geissan locality, affecting both local residents and civilians who had previously fled their homes and were living in shelters, Anadolu Agency reported.
Initial estimates put the number of displaced people at nearly 20,000, including families, children, women and elderly people, the group said.

Those fleeing the violence have scattered across several locations, including Shira, Abu Qami and Al-Hilla Al-Qadima. Others have moved east toward Wad Al-Mahi locality, while some displaced families have sought shelter in Damazin, the capital of Blue Nile state.
The emergency group warned that displaced families are facing “dire humanitarian conditions,” with severe shortages of shelter materials and other basic necessities.
It called on humanitarian organizations, relief agencies and local and international authorities to intervene urgently to provide assistance and address the growing humanitarian and health risks facing the displaced population.
The latest displacement comes after two days of escalating fighting in Blue Nile state involving Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and its ally, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N).
The RSF said Friday that its forces had captured the Bakori and Sirkam military bases southeast of Damazin, although developments on the ground remain contested amid the continuing conflict.
Blue Nile is among several Sudanese regions experiencing renewed fighting. The three Kordofan states — North, West and South Kordofan — have also seen clashes between the Sudanese army and the RSF.
Sudan has been engulfed in a devastating war between the army and the RSF since April 2023. The conflict has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced around 13 million, according to United Nations and international estimates.
The latest wave of displacement in Blue Nile adds to an already severe humanitarian crisis, with thousands of civilians once again being forced to flee as fighting spreads and access to basic shelter and supplies becomes increasingly limited.
