Pakistan has suspended trade with Iran at the Taftan and Gabd-Rimdan border crossings in Balochistan province, disrupting cross-border commerce and leaving around 2,000 trucks stranded on both sides of the border, according to local business representatives, Al Jazeera reported.
The federal government has not publicly commented on the suspension. However, the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, based in Balochistan’s provincial capital, reported that the trucks were unable to proceed across the border.

Conflicting accounts have emerged over the reasons for the move. Some reports have described the suspension as a security measure aimed at supporting counterterrorism operations and preventing smuggling, while others have attributed it to technical issues.
The suspension affects two important crossing points for trade between Pakistan and Iran, raising concerns among traders over delays to shipments and potential financial losses.
The lack of an official explanation has left businesses uncertain about the circumstances surrounding the restrictions and when normal cross-border trade might resume.
