During an exclusive tour of the Treasury Department with Fox News‘ Jesse Watters, Bessent displayed freshly printed $100 bills bearing Trump’s signature, describing the change as a fitting tribute to the nation’s semiquincentennial, News.Az reports.
“For the 250th, the president’s signature is going to be on it for the first time,” Bessent said.

He said the commemorative signature will appear across all denominations in the new currency series.
“It’s gonna be on all the currency for the 250th… I think it is appropriate for the 250th,” Bessent said.
Bessent noted that federal law requires U.S. currency to display the phrase “In God We Trust” and prohibits images of living people, but allows the president’s signature to appear on banknotes.
Showing sheets of newly printed $100 bills, Bessent explained they would be distributed through the Federal Reserve and enter circulation this fall.
“This fall… with the president’s signature will be available,” he said.
Addressing concerns about costs, Bessent stressed the redesign would not require additional taxpayer funding.
“Absolutely not. We rotate the currency always, so nothing extra to the taxpayer,” he said.
