The National Resistance Forces, which support Yemen’s internationally recognized government, said in a statement that their forces carried out strikes against Houthi positions and that the attacks “accurately hit their targets,” Anadolu Agency reported.
The Houthis had not immediately commented on the reported casualties.

The strikes came as Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council approved additional “deterrence” measures against the Houthis and vowed to continue efforts to restore state institutions and regain control over areas held by the group.
The decision was made during a council meeting in the Saudi capital Riyadh attended by all council members, according to Yemen’s state-run Saba news agency.
The meeting focused on military, security and economic developments, as well as the government’s response to what it described as an ongoing escalation by the Houthis.
The council said the government would continue efforts to restore state institutions, strengthen its authority across Yemen and address the humanitarian crisis caused by the conflict.
Renewed fighting
Yemen had experienced a period of relative calm since 2022 following years of fighting between government forces and the Houthis, who seized control of large parts of the country, including the capital Sanaa, in 2014.
That relative calm began to deteriorate last month as clashes resumed in several areas, including Marib in central Yemen, Al-Jawf in the north, and Al-Dhale and Taiz in the southwest.
The Saudi-led coalition supports Yemen’s Aden-based government and its armed forces, while Iran has been accused of providing support to the Houthis.
The Houthis announced a maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia in July, further raising tensions in the region.
The group has also become increasingly involved in the wider Middle East conflict since Israel launched its war on the Gaza Strip in late 2023.
The Houthis have carried out attacks targeting Israel and commercial vessels linked to Israel in the Red Sea, turning the strategically important waterway into a major flashpoint in the regional conflict.
