Gasoline and diesel prices at some filling stations increased by 2–14 tetri per liter ($0.008–$0.054) during the first week of September, according to Sputnik Georgia.
Market participants attribute the increase mainly to higher petroleum product prices on global markets and rising supply costs from European refineries. Georgia remains heavily dependent on imported fuel.

Industry representatives warn that the latest increases in wholesale prices have not yet been fully reflected in retail prices.
According to them, if global petroleum product prices remain high, fuel prices at Georgian filling stations could rise further in the coming weeks.
